DAAU
In 1995, Die Anarchistische Abendunterhaltung (DAAU) debuted, blending punk energy with classical instrumentation. Their latest album, ‘Musik für animierte Tonspurfilm,’ soundtracks abstract animations by Rudy Trouvé, who also directed its creation. Originating from acoustic improvisations by Roel Van Camp, Han Stubbe, Hannes d'Hoine, and Jeroen Stevens, Trouvé restructured the music with electronic layers, resulting in a raw, playful sound reflecting his unique, lo-fi aesthetic. The band’s moniker, inspired by Hermann Hesse's Steppenwolf, embodies their ethos. "In the book," explains Roel Van Camp, "a theater sign reads: 'Enter here and lose your mind.' That describes how our music operates, challenging conventions and exploring unconventional territories.
